So, I took that part back and got a new one and it was installed yesterday and I was told the same thing, the motor is not working. Eg, it's inactive when the window is below halfway up. It should also reverse the widow direction automatically if it senses an issue. Eg as you move window upwards, it senses an issue then the window should go down about 25mm. If the window didn't move after it first stops then I'm doubtful the jam sensor is being triggered.
