Dealer is asking $32k for it. I found out that it has an APR stage 1, 93 octane, high torque tune. In terms of maintenance, I’m assuming it will need Haldex awd maintenance soon. Otherwise, how worried should I be about maintenance on an older Golf R with a tune? I know many Golf owners swear that driving an R with a tune is the only way to go. Make sure your air filter is cleaned every 20k, use only top tier gasoline, change out your engine coolant at 40k and really in general, just cut every maintenance item down to 1/2 of the factory requirement, cuz remember, those requirements were based on the demands a car with stock tuning needed. Air intake and down pipe (decat or sports cat) are the requirements for Stage 2. Cat back isn't a requirement, nor is a larger core cooler. At Stage 2+ (where the fun really starts!!) you'll need air intake, down pipe, high pressure fuel pump. This VW MK7 Golf R came in for an NVM Stage 2 ECU/DSG mapping along with a Scorpion Exhausts downpipe fitted with an intake and elbow. Dyno vid in the link below!! That new 80mm downpipe from Scorpion ready to let that TSI and IS38 sing!! In with the new, nothing beats a shiny new Scorpion piece! On this Golf R’s stock run it made: 315 BHP Stage 1 tuning on one engine can be very different from the same tuning on another engine. Additionally, a specific stage 1 car might be faster than another stage 3 car. The exact details might vary, which is the major downside to tuning stages. However, there are some general rules that apply to most cars and engines. . Before i got my revo stage 1 installed a few weeks ago, I was reading the info on the revo website which stated stage 1 0-60 times in the region of 3.7 seconds. Obviously, i knew the car would be quick but took the numbers with a pinch of salt as a bit of marketing guff. Anyway, gave it a blast today on a arrow straight stretch of (not great This thread aims to provide guidance and info as objectively as possible for anyone interested in tuning his Golf R up to what is commonly referred to as stage 2+. Currently the car has the following mods: - Stage1 tune (from two different tuners); - Forge Twintake; (Removed) - APR Carbonio; - Sprintbooster; - Scorpion de-cat TBE and Stage 2 tune; Stage 2 9L/100km (~26mpg) Integrated Engineering customer support was VERY quick to respond (within a few hours usually), thorough and professional. I had sent a video in asking about the flutter. APR is pleased to announce the Stage II ECU Upgrade for the Golf R and S3 is now available for the North American market with other markets around the world EQT stage 2 e30, then full e85 with hpfp is the way. I did have IE stage 2 originally but it wasn't as smooth as EQT ( IE stg 2 seemed to make my diverter valve go crazy. Way too much "woosh woosh sssssh" between 3-5k rpm at WOT but no issues with EQT stg 2 e85 and 91 ). There's also sneakytune and other Cobb based options out there.
